St Pancras Mortuary

London Borough of Camden

Health

The existing mortuary was completely stripped out as being unfit for purpose and a new layout and equipment provided within the framework of the existing building structure.

Due to very deep structural beams the services routing was severely compromised and bulkheads were introduced in order to conceal services.  A new three table post mortem room has been provided together with a separate forensic post mortem room.

As part of the Client brief there was a requirement for a post mortem table and a section of the new body stores to take bariatric bodies to a weight of 88 stone.

This mortuary also provides emergency cover for London and the space in front of the new body stores has been arranged with emergency cooling facilities so that additional bodies can be safely stored.
